Our doors are open to anyone interested in joining our growing community.  

 

As a member of our community, you’ll have exposure to a vibrant network along with a wealth of knowledge and experience you can’t find anywhere else.

About Membership

A few things you should know before you read on ...

If you are purchasing your membership immediately prior to 1st October, your membership will start on that date and be renewed annually on that date.  If you are purchasing your membership after that date, your membership will be effective immediate and renewed annually on 1st October of each year.

A REGISTERED member is a single person living at an address; a PARTNER member is any other single person living at the SAME address e.g. for a husband and wife combination at the same address, one would be designated as the REGISTERED member with the other as the PARTNER member.  Only one PARTNER member is allowed at the same address as the REGISTERED member.

​

To apply for Membership or our Beginners Course, you will need to download and complete our Application Form.  After we receive and process your Application Form, you will receive an email directing you to our secure Membership site where you can select your level of membership.  After submitting your details, you will then receive an email giving payment instructions for a bank transfer direct to our business account.

Registered Member

Our best package for £34.00

This membership category provides all the benefits  the association has to offer.

​

You will be registered with the Yorkshire Beekeeping Association (YBKA)  and the British Beekeepers Association (BBKA) and will  receive the BBKA monthly magazine.  In addition, you will be covered for up to £10 million in Public Liability insurance in case of accident caused by your bees.

​

In addition to attending our social Winter Meetings, as a full member, you'll be entitled to attend all apiary sessions and Master Classes that may be held at the association apiary.  

Partner Member

Family value for £23.00

This category of membership is for those beekeepers who are the spouse, partner, or family member of a full member of this association and whom reside at the same address.  Only one person residing at the same address can be designated as a Partner Member.

 

A partner member will receive all the benefits of a full member but will not receive the BBKA Newsletter.  Public liability insurance is covered through the full member of the partner.

Country Member

Best Non-beekeeper option for £23.00

This category is for members of a District who are not active in beekeeping and do not keep bees, but wish to support us, attend our meeting and events and be involved with the YBKA and the BBKA.

​

Members in this category ​will be registered with  YBKA and BBKA and will receive their monthly Newsletters but will not be covered by Public Liability or Bee Disease Insurance.

​

Members in this category can attend any of our meetings and events.

Local Member

Good value for £12.50

Sometimes referred to as a Social Member, this category of membership is suitable for those who do not want to keep bees but wish to be a social member and participate in our activities, events and meetings.  Members in this category will receive email communications but not the BBKA newsletters. 

​

This category is also suitable for Registered beekeepers who are already affiliated to the BBKA through another YBKA district association. 

 

Non-Registered members in this category cannot attend any of our apiary sessions.

Junior Member

Junior value for £15.00

This category of membership is for those junior beekeepers who are under the age of 18 at 30th September of the year they join. 

 

Juniors receive the same benefits as a Full Member including public liability insurance and monthly newsletters from YBKA and BBKA.

 

A junior member must be supported at all times by a parent or guardian.

Schools

One member representing a school - £34.00

This category of membership is for Schools for which the school address and email address have been supplied; and for whom at least one named member of staff has been registered to represent the school with our association.

​

The named member(s) of staff will have the support and guidance of the association.

​

Donation

Help support us with a voluntary donation

Not interested in joining us but would like to help us?  Why not consider making a donation to us instead.

​

As a charity, we need to raise our own funds for the purchase of our equipment and our ongoing care of honeybees. If you choose to make a donation, you can be sure that anything you donate will be used for the benefit of honeybees in our local area.
