about

us

We founded Selby Beekeepers out of a pure passion for honeybees and beekeeping.  Our goals, ambitions and inspirations are coming together to form a new community of beekeepers that we are proud to be a part of.

We regularly go above and beyond to ensure our members receive the support and opportunities they need to learn the craft of beekeeping.

To find out more about us, don’t hesitate to reach out - we’d love to hear from you.

Our Mission

We are a community of beekeepers dedicated to the ongoing health, welfare and survival of our native honeybees whilst bringing education and enlightenment to those interested in taking up the craft with us.

We aspire to achieve this through our association apiary as a place of learning where teaching will take place and through interaction with our primary schools.  Our apiary will be a Place of Excellence for learning and a local attraction for the community and visitors alike.

more
about
us

During the summer months, we meet each Saturday at our community apiary where we run practical "hands-on" sessions for our new beekeepers.  We also run Master Class sessions at our apiary teaching members advanced management techniques.

During the winter months, we meet once a month for a chit chat and listen to a guest speaker talk on their speciality beekeeping subject.

Whether at the apiary or at a winter meeting, it is at these social gatherings that you will make new friends and add to your knowledge of beekeeping.

FAMILY SHARING

So you though that beekeeping was just for the boys?  How very wrong you are!  We now have more female beekeepers in our ranks than we do male beekeepers.

And have you thought about taking it up as a hobby for the whole family?  Apart from getting your partner interested, what about the children?  Providing they are not too young (10+ is best) then we will welcome them into our ranks.

Talk to us and see what we can do together!
