Caring for Honeybees in the Selby area
Riccall Grange Apiary
When we founded Selby Beekeepers Association back in 2018, this is the place we conducted all of our practical sessions and other advanced management techniques.

The site is secluded and tranquil, and being in close proximity to Skipwith Common, lends itself as an ideal location for our association bees to live in harmony with nature.

Beginners Practical Sessions
This is where our beginners get their first taste of handling a colony of honeybees consisting of 10's of thousands of individuals! The thrill of opening up a hive and removing a frame from the hive will stay with for a long time.

In these sessions, you will learn to identify the workers (girls), the drones (boys) and with luck, you will eventually identify the queen! You will also learn to identify honey, pollen, and the various states of brood in the nursery.

As you progress on your beekeeping journey, you will also learn how to manage swarming along with other management techniques to keep your bees healthy. Even after many years of experience, you will still be continuing to learn about this fascinating and captivating hobby!
