Well - the weather wasn't too bad at around 8 - 9 degrees today so we made the decision to administer the varroa treatment to the bees at home. This is the first time I've used the newly authorised oxalic acid formula called Api-Bioxal.
Of the five hives we administered, CHIVE was the most responsive hive with a few of the ladies flying around and one of them managing to nip me on the rear!
We took the opportunity to weigh each of the hives and might need to monitor POPPY and HEATHER as they are looking a little on the light side by way of stores available to them.
Tomorrow, it's off up to the Granary to check on the ladies there and give them the same treatment. Thinking forward, we'll take some fondant with us in case they too are getting low on stores.
